Measure, level, assemble
Most garden storage goes wrong for the same three reasons: it was measured by capacity rather than footprint, it went onto uneven ground, or it was built alone. A few minutes up front saves an afternoon.
- Measure the space, not the litres Capacity in litres tells you what fits inside; the external dimensions tell you whether it fits your patio. Leave room to open the lid or the doors fully, and clearance from fences and walls.
- Get the base right Resin and timber storage needs a firm, level base – paving, decking or a prepared pad. On soft or sloping ground the doors and the lid stop lining up and the unit twists.
- Plan the build Almost everything arrives flat-packed and goes together with basic hand tools. Larger sheds and tall cabinets are far easier with two people and an hour to spare.
